Questions?
Everything families ask before their first class at Legacy Martial Arts — ages, schedule, cost, safety, and what actually happens on the mat. If your question is not here, text us and a real person answers.
Three. Our Mighty Badgers program is built for ages 3 to 6, with short drills and constant movement so preschoolers stay engaged. Ages 7 to 12 train in Youth Martial Arts, and anyone 13 and up trains in our Teen & Adult classes. Nobody is ever the only person their age on the mat.
$25 for 2 Weeks + A New Uniform Included. You pick the program that matches your age, we schedule your first class, and you train for two weeks with a brand-new uniform included — a $158 value for $25. There is no obligation to continue and it is backed by a 100% money-back guarantee.
An instructor meets you at the door, walks you through bowing in, and pairs you with a student who already knows the drill. You will warm up, learn one or two basics, and leave having done something you could not do when you walked in. Parents watch from the seating area — you never drop your child off blind.
No. Most adults who start here have not trained in years, if ever. Every drill has a beginner version and a harder version, and instructors tell you which one is yours. Getting in shape is what the classes do, not what you do before them.
Mighty Badgers train twice a week, which is the right dose for a 3 to 6 year old. Youth students train two to three times a week. Teen & Adult students get a minimum of three classes a week, because that is the frequency where skill and conditioning actually stick.
Weekday classes run afternoons and evenings, roughly 15pm to 8pm, with Saturday morning classes as well. Times shift by program and age, so call or text 805-240-7424 and we will tell you the exact slots that fit your family.
The intro is a two-week trial with no strings. If you continue, we walk you through the membership options in person and answer every question about length, price, and what happens if life changes. Nothing is signed at a computer screen without a human explaining it first.
Tell us. Missed classes get made up in another age-appropriate class during the week, and longer absences are handled case by case. We would rather adjust than have a student quit over a scheduling problem.
Yes, and safety is a coaching decision, not a hope. Kids train barefoot on matted floors, contact is controlled and age-appropriate, and drills are stopped the second focus slips. Our youngest students spend far more time on listening, balance, and body control than on hitting anything.
The opposite. Students learn that the skill exists to keep themselves and other people safe, and that rank is earned by behavior as much as technique. Parents consistently report better listening at home and more patience with siblings — that is the point of the training.
Comfortable athletic clothes and bare feet. Uniforms are included with the intro, so there is nothing to buy before you show up. Long hair tied back, no jewelry, and a water bottle is a good idea.
Both, in their own classes. Teen & Adult students train with other adults on real self-defense, conditioning, and skill work — not a watered-down kids curriculum with grown-ups in it. Plenty of parents start after watching their kid train for a few months.
Yes. Our hosted birthday parties run 90 minutes for up to 20 kids, and our instructors run the entire thing — games, drills, a board break for the birthday child, and cleanup. You bring the cake and take the photos.
